Explore Sacramento History with The Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt
Sacramento, CA (PRWEB) May 27, 2009 -- Trailmix.Net, an online retailer of family adventure products, is celebrating the grand opening of its first brick and mortar retail store in Old Sacramento by creating a scavenger hunt that explores the unique history of Old Sacramento. A free copy of the scavenger hunt is available for immediate download at the Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt website (http://www.oldsacramentoscavengerhunt.com).
The Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt serves as a working example of the core idea that Trailmix.Net is constructed around: tapping into the educational potential of backyards, state parks, national parks, and other public lands for recreational purposes.
The scavenger hunt starts at the Pony Express Statue in Old Sacramento and directs players to ten historic locations including The Wells Fargo Museum, The Old Schoolhouse Museum, The Delta King, The Eagle Theatre, The Huntington and Hopkins Hardware Store, and finally back to the Trailmix.Net store where children can claim a free prize from a wooden treasure chest during normal store hours. No purchase is necessary to participate in the scavenger hunt or to claim a prize.
"When we started working on the Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt design, we wanted to create a product that is fun, free, and educational" said Michael Barlow, president of Trailmix.Net, Inc. "The Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt is the best free activity for kids in Sacramento."
In addition to downloading the full scavenger hunt map and riddles in adobe PDF format for free, website visitors can also preview the Old Sacramento Scavenger Hunt using Google Earth.
The Trailmix.Net store in Old Sacramento is scheduled to complete construction and open its doors for business in June of 2009. At that time, free copies of the scavenger hunt riddles and map will also be available on site in Old Sacramento. The new Trailmix.Net store will be located at 116B I street, right across from the California Railroad Museum.
Although the scavenger hunt is primarily designed for parents and families, it is also available for schools, teachers, scouting groups, and other organizations.
